Vital Spirit Qigong

Vital Spirit Qigong Sessions

Vital Spirit Qigong (Jing Shen Qi Gong) an ancient Chinese spiritual way known as Internal Alchemy (Nei Dan) and Vitality Practice (Qi Gong). This holistic style of Qigong works with Yin-Yang, Three Treasures, Five Elements and Chinese Medicine.

This system of Internal Alchemy Qigong benefits body, mind and spirit: it rejuvenates, heals, transforms and develops your spiritual potential. Posture, movement, voicework and breathwork sequences are combined to connect to your and nature’s vital energy (Qi) which benefits your physical health and general well–being. Meditation, visualisation and attunement are used to experience and realise your integral spiritual reality (Jing Shen).

The aim of these fortnightly sessions is to access the spiritual, vital and essential resources you need. You also experience your inherent connection to the universe and nature which enriches your life and sense of wellness.

For 30 years I have studied and taught various styles of Qigong, including Daoist and Medical Qigong. I bring insights gained through the study of Classical Chinese language and philosophy, as well as 30-plus years practicing acupuncture.

Village Builders Workshop

to Jul 29

Village Builders Workshop

Humanity currently faces a perfect storm of crises: environmental, political and social.

The challenges can seem overwhelming and it’s easier to withdraw into our own worlds than face up to them. But this is making us disconnected and depressed.

There is another way forward. At Sacred Earth we believe we can use the principles of permaculture to build connections with each other and the natural world in a way that creates positive change. This means positive change on a personal level and at a wider community level. The crisis we now face can actually be a positive tipping point, a chance to create new solutions for our communities, the planet and ourselves.

The Village Builders Seminar is about building communities. It takes inspiration from some of the mentoring techniques and nature-connection rituals that are successfully used by indigenous cultures and uses the principles of social permaculture to create a practical toolkit that you can take away with you.

It answers questions like:

  • How connected are we to those around us?
  • What types of practice improve our connection to self, others and nature?
  • What kind of resources do we need to build a resilient community?

Facilitated by Phil Greenwood and Deborah Benham and in run co-operation with 8 Shields, this seminar will immerse you in the concepts of cultural repair and regenerative design.

The seminar will cover:

  • types of behaviour that support unity and positivity
  • the concept of the ‘community web’ and how to create it
  • how to create a healthy culture
  • barriers to connection: what are they and how can they be overcome?
  • getting involved in your local area
  • best practices that are attainable in the short term, but with long term goals.

Lewes Death Cafe

Lewes Death Cafe

  • The Ram Inn, Firle, East Sussex, BN8 6SS (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Our café’s are at present held in a pub so rather than coffee and cake we enjoy drinks (including hot and soft as well as alcoholic) with bar snacks. There is no need to book. A small donation is welcome but not essential.
We just want to create an environment where talking about death is natural and comfortable. Meetings are confidential and people must respect one another’s disparate beliefs and avoid proselytizing. These are not grief support groups or end-of-life planning sessions, but rather casual forums for people who want to bat around personal thoughts. What is death like? Why do we fear it? How do our views of death inform the way we live? It's also not a debate platform. We don't want you to air all your views and pick each other apart. Competitive instincts are set aside.
As a result of this welcoming approach it is a frequent delight to see people's authenticity and honesty among strangers. There is laughter as tensions ease, differences are accepted and like minds are discovered. People usually leave feeling the warmth of shared humanity.
Those who have studied attitudes toward death say that for most people, such conversations are healthy; talking about death can ease people’s fears and the notion that death is taboo.
We live knowing that everything dies. Like the sun, it's a fact of life. And like the sun, we tend not to look right at it. This opportunity to look death in the face is worth taking.
