Free Mindfulness Taster Session with Annie Akasati McAuley

Mindfulness is the quality of present-moment awareness, for example when are happily absorbed in a simple task, or pause to notice a beautiful sunset. In a way it is quite simple, but that doesn't mean it is easy to do! Most of us can benefit from training ourselves to be more fully present and focused, gradually learning this skill, through practice and with support from the mindfulness trainer and other, like-minded people on the course. The benefits of mindfulness practice are widely reported in the media, including the capacity to increase our wellbeing, calmness and clarity - and reducing stress, anxiety, low mood and likelihood of relapse into depression.

I initially learned mindfulness and meditation in a Buddhist context in the 1980's and have practiced regularly since that time. This practice has been the source of much creativity and joy throughout my adult life. I completed ordination training in Buddhist philosophy and practice in 1999, at which time I was given my Buddhist name 'Akasati'. Since then have regularly led meditation courses and retreats, initially within a Buddhist context and more recently leading secular mindfulness and compassion courses.

I have been practising mindfulness and meditation for over 35 years and have now taught over 30 8-week mindfulness courses. I am a member of the UK Mindfulness Network and am qualified to teach Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and alternate these two courses at The Open Door. I am also qualified to teach Mindfulness-based Compassionate Living (MBCL). Together with my colleague Dr Carolyn Drake and associate teacher Nicky Mouat, I run a Mindfulness teaching partnership 'Love Mindfulness'.

THE INSPIRITUAL WAY

THE INSPIRITUAL WAY

A spiritual approach for our times

An ongoing evening course on alternate Thursdays, 7-9pm. Starts 10th October.

The Inspiritual Way is a way of spiritual realisation. It works by developing an ongoing intimate connection and fellowship with your spirit.

Using the practices of Spiritual Unity, Internal Alchemy and Remedial Spirituality you access your spiritual potential, deepen your spiritual life and

transform your daily life. Through meditation, mindful attunement and heart-centered communion you find a deepening sense of oneness with your spirit

and the Whole.

As you start to feel the ever-present support, guidance and loving presence of your spirit you become inspirited, inspired and healed. As your heart opens, you discover the wonder and love of oneness with the Whole.

The Inspiritual Way helps reveal the meaning, value and purpose of your life, affording you a new-found spiritual contentment. This path to spirituality is akin to an unfolding spiritual relationship. The experience of heart-centred intimacy and unity with your spirit leaves you feeling nurtured, comforted and healed. Slowly you become who you truly are - a profound, aware and loving being.

Amadis works to foster a kinship and partnership with spirit you can work with in daily life, so access your innate spiritual vitality, harmony, beauty and joy. He developed this way of living life in spirit, having studied and worked with a realised teacher for over twenty years and with other mentors for many others.

For more information please go to www.theinspiritualway.com

New Pregnancy Yoga Class

New Pregnancy Yoga Class

I have been practising yoga since 1997 and teaching since 2000. I specialise in applying fluid, functional asana (poses), pranayama (breathwork) and yoga nidra (embodied meditation) to all areas of women’s lives: fertility and conception, menstrual health, pregnancy, birth preparation, postnatal recovery and the later postnatal phases, and the menopause and beyond.

I teach classes, workshops and private sessions to women and their partners, and teach and advise on my areas of expertise on yoga training courses. I also run bespoke training courses and mentorships (increasingly online). I have trained with the major providers of women’s yoga that I consider to offer sensitive, ethical, clear ways of approaching the female body (the Active Birth Centre with whom I completed an extensive apprenticeship, Birthlight, Womb Yoga and the Yoga Nidra Network), and this has intersected with my many years of daily practice to allow me to offer individualised teaching within a group setting.

I’m delighted to be teaching a new pregnancy/active birth yoga class at the Open Door, and look forward to sharing practical techniques to navigate the demands and delights of parenthood in ways that honour the wisdom of the female body, yoga’s traditions, and modern knowledge.

Drop in £15, block of 5 (to use within 6 weeks) £70
